Kilmarnock honors heroes

The family of late Air Force veteran Harvey S. Courtney gather beside his banner for a photo following the Hometown Heroes celebration at Kilmarnock Town Centre Park. Kilmarnock community development coordinator Ashley Jones read a list of 2021 Hometown Heroes at last Saturday’s ceremony, which unveiled the new banners to be placed throughout Kilmarnock. Paige Melton performed patriotic songs during the ceremony. There are over 200 Hometown Heroes banners honoring veterans, including 15 new banners added this year. Photo by Lisa Hinton-Valdrighi
